Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
Explanation (EN)
Personal data includes information that can directly or indirectly identify an individual, such as names, identification numbers, location data, online identifiers, or factors specific to a person’s physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural, or social identity.
An individual is considered identifiable if they can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to such identifiers.
The protection of personal data is a legal and fundamental rights obligation and requires appropriate organisational and technical measures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, and lawful processing.

Persoonsgegevens zijn alle informatie over een geïdentificeerde of identificeerbare natuurlijke persoon.
Toelichting (NL)
Persoonsgegevens omvatten informatie waarmee een persoon direct of indirect kan worden geïdentificeerd, zoals namen, identificatienummers, locatiegegevens, online identificatoren of kenmerken die verband houden met de fysieke, fysiologische, genetische, mentale, economische, culturele of sociale identiteit van een persoon.
Een persoon wordt als identificeerbaar beschouwd wanneer hij of zij rechtstreeks of onrechtstreeks kan worden geïdentificeerd, met name aan de hand van dergelijke identificatoren.
De bescherming van persoonsgegevens is een wettelijke verplichting en een fundamenteel recht en vereist passende organisatorische en technische maatregelen om vertrouwelijkheid, integriteit, beschikbaarheid en rechtmatige verwerking te waarborgen.
