Assetbeheer is het gestructureerde proces voor het identificeren, documenteren, onderhouden en beheren van assets gedurende hun volledige levenscyclus, zodat ze beschermd worden, correct worden gebruikt en afgestemd zijn op de doelstellingen van de organisatie.

Assetbeheer zorgt voor een actueel en volledig overzicht van welke assets de organisatie bezit of gebruikt, wie ervoor verantwoordelijk is en hoe ze bijdragen aan de bedrijfsprocessen.
